Ministries - Men's Ministry

“Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.” (Hebrews 3:13)

Men's Ministry Focus

We believe scripture clearly states that men are to be proactively involved in a Christ-centered relationship with God that compels them to become Godly servants, leaders, mentors, brothers, fellow-workers, husbands and fathers. Our desire is to foster an environment of growth by providing opportunities for men to grow in Godly truth and Godly relationships.

Godly Truth: We live in a society that defines truth in relative terms. We believe God has revealed absolute truth to us through His Word, the Bible. Through His Word we see that God created us for the purpose of living in right relationship with Him and each other. He made this possible through the sending of his Son who died on our behalf, through His resurrection from the dead, and through His life now with the Father. This miraculous act allows us to learn and grow in a personal relationship with Him, guided by the Holy Spirit through the study of His Word. Men’s Ministry weekly Bible studies range in focus from the inductive systematic study of scripture to biblical studies outlining the history and cultures that frame biblical events.

Godly Relationships: Sports, weather, and work - these are the topics men are most comfortable talking about. This can result in a shallow, lonely existence that denies the reality that men need healthy relationships with other men in order to grow into the role in which God has called them to live. God’s Word says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17). The Men’s Ministry accountability groups consist of 4-6 men per group that meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to discuss personal issues pertaining to character, issues where men may be struggling, and areas where the Lord may be working or desiring to work as he draws each man into closer relationship with Him.

Men's Ministry Opportunities

Bible Study & Accountability Groups: Men’s Ministry provides men with weekly opportunities to study God’s Word in large group settings and to meet in accountability groups in small group settings. Bible studies are held in the Fellowship Hall every Tuesday evening from 7pm-8pm and every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm-8pm. Accountability groups meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis at the discretion of each group. Times are set aside every Tuesday evening from 8pm-9pm and on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8pm to provide opportunities for groups to meet at the church if they wish. Groups do have the freedom to meet elsewhere if it is more conducive to the members of a particular accountability group.

Fellowship: In an effort to offer opportunities for men to grow in relationship through fellowship, Men’s Ministry holds fellowship events once every three to six months. These events include going to Cardinal games, fellowship in homes, softball, etc. Retreats are also occasionally held.

How to Get Involved

It is not necessary to sign up for any of the bible study opportunities provided by Men’s Ministry. Men are welcome to simply show up each week. Men desiring to be involved in accountability groups should see a Men’s Ministry leader to find out how.
