Ministries - Senior Adult Minsitry

“But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance. Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the Word of God will not be dishonored. Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.” (Titus 2:1-8)

Senior Adult Ministry Focus

God is always at work growing and refining His people to carry out His purposes. Whether speaking of Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Anna, or the Apostle John, the Bible is full of examples of God using people in their advanced years to participate in His magnificent work. He is always at work in every believer desiring to use them regardless of age.

TThe aim of the Senior Adult Ministry is to encourage those over the age of 50 to lead by example, to cultivate mentoring relationships with younger believers, and to stay actively engaged in the Body of Christ as participants and leaders of other church ministries.

Senior Adult Ministry Opportunities

Fellowship: The Senior Adult Ministry works diligently to foster a community where relationships can thrive among the Senior Adults. Monthly events are planned that include day trips, luncheons, potlucks, etc. Though these events are aimed at ministering to Senior Adults, everyone in the Body is welcome to come and participate in fellowship.

Reaching: Another important aim in the Senior Adult ministry is to minister to those who have reached a stage in life that makes it difficult to actively involve themselves in the regular life of the body. It is a high priority of the Senior Adult ministry to make sure ministry is taking place to widows, widowers, shut-ins and those experiencing health issues.

How to Get Involved

All are welcome to participate in Senior Adult Ministry services and activities. The Sunday Morning bulletin is used regularly to announce upcoming events and to provide pertinent for those events. Anyone who may have additional questions on how to get involved with the Senior Adult ministry should contact John and Sharon Forman or should call the church office at (618) 233-1177.
